Additional seats and scholarships available for Third Class Power Engineering program

Thursday, January 19, 2017

KINDERSLEY, SK: Great Plains College is pleased to announce the availability of 12 additional seats for the upcoming Third Class Power Engineering course at its Kindersley Campus.

“In addition to opening up 12 more seats, we are excited to offer an extended Entrance Scholarship deadline as well,” said Fritz Eckstein, region manager at Great Plains College. “The addition of these seats and scholarships will continue to open the doors for those looking to further their education and career in the field.”

The course is set to run from April 10 to July 21, 2017. Anyone who applies prior to February 28, 2017, will be eligible to receive a $500 Entrance Scholarship.

“Our instructors and staff are working hard to meet the demand for Power Engineering training in the province and they are doing so by providing a high-quality learning environment,” said Eckstein. “A testament to that is the high provincial test average earned by our current fourth class students.”

According to provincial test results, the Kindersley Fourth Class Power Engineering student success rate was 94.12 per cent on the Part A provincial exam.

According to Great Plains College 2013-14 Annual Follow-up Survey conducted by Fast Consulting, 83 per cent of contacted Kindersley Fourth Class Power Engineering graduates were employed within the year following their program.

Third Class Power Engineering students will work through the 60 SAIT Third Class Power Engineering modules. Successful completion of the modules will give students six months’ credit toward the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan’s steam time requirement at the Third Class level. Students will also have the opportunity to write the Part A and Part B provincial exams.
