This year’s Truth and Reconciliation event will focus on Sixties Scoop and the impact that it has had on Indigenous family structure and Canadian Society.
The event will begin at the Swift Current Campus gymnasium with a presentation from an Indigenous Knowledge Keeper, a pictorial history of the story on Sixties Scoop and reconciliation efforts, and Indigenous drumming, fiddling and more. The morning will conclude with a march to Market Square that celebrates the TRC recommendations, along with a Treaty 4, municipal, provincial and federal flag hoisting.
All participants are invited to carry placards representing a Call to Action, and to wear orange T-shirts as a mark of solidarity in support of reconciliation. A lunch of bison stew and bannock will be served at the Market Square, sponsored by Living Sky Casino and Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan.
This event is open to the public and free to attend. Register at eventbrite.ca/e/sixties-scoop-truth-reconciliation-tickets-46369023999
