Enbridge donates AED to support health and safety at Great Plains College and Kindersley community

Monday, September 17, 2018

KINDERSLEY: Enbridge Pipelines Inc. has generously donated an automatic external defibrillator (AED) to the Kindersley Campus of Great Plains College. The AED will provide an opportunity to help individuals should they need the device, in the downtown area.

“We are thrilled to have this on site,” says Great Plains College region manager Fritz Eckstein. “We provide safety training to many people in the area and instruct our students on how to use an AED as part of every First Aid course we run. Having the AED on site solidifies our commitment to the importance of providing First Aid training in our community.”

This summer, an influx of temporary workers arrived in Kindersley and its surrounding region to complete a portion of the Enbridge Line 3 Replacement Program. The project is the largest in Enbridge's history and, according to company representatives, approximately 800 employees have been brought to the area for at least a half year period.

“This is our way of giving back to the community of Kindersley,” says Enbridge community engagement coordinator, Peter Hansen. “We are hoping that the AED will be a useful asset, should anyone need it at the college or in the downtown core.”

The AED has been installed on the main floor of Great Plains College’s Kindersley Campus and is accessible to the general public in case of emergency. Approximately 2,000 students per year come to the campus for certificate programs, such as Power Engineering and Administrative Assistant, and safety training, such as First Aid, Fall Protection and H2S Alive.

“While we hope the machine goes unused, we are glad that it is here to assist in case of an emergency,” says Eckstein.
