International Student Awards

Great Plains College is pleased to provide an International Student Award available to international students enrolled in the Business Diploma in Management, Child and Youth Care, and Early Childhood Development Diploma programs at the Swift Current or Warman Campuses. 

Five (5) awards of $2,000 will be granted annually to international students entering their second year of their diploma program. The applications will be scored on three core components:

  • Final grades from the first year of the program;
  • Attendance;
  • Community involvement 

The application deadline is May 31, 2025 at 4:00 PM. The award recipients will be notified by the end of June and the award will be presented at their campus' scholarship reception in the fall of 2025.

Student starting a full-time diploma program in January are eligible to apply for the award in the second year of their program. 

To be considered for the award you must meet all the following criteria:

  1. To be registered in a full-time diploma program at Great Plains College campus;
  2. To have paid international student fee rates and be in good financial standing;
  3. To have submitted your Intent to Return form by March 31, 2025 (available from Student Services or Student Adviser)
  4. To have paid the $500 tuition deposit for the second-year term by April 30, 2025;
  5. To have a Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN)
  6. To submit a completed online application form by deadline of May 31, 2025 at 4:00 PM;
  7. To return for the start of their second-year and be in good academic standing;
  8. To be in compliance with the college's Student Conduct policy (and others applicable) 

Please complete the online application form and include the following documents to apply:

  • Final Grad Marks Transcript - marks can be obtained from the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Student Portal
  • Attendance Record - students can contact their Program Coordinators and request for attendance report.
  • Community Involvement Hours Form - community involvement consists of volunteer work done with a non-profit organization within your community (not a business where you are paid as an employee) or at your GPC Campus. Applicants can speak to their programs' Student Adviser to learn more.  Note: practicum placement hours do not qualify as "Community Involvement" hours.
