Great Plains College Announces Leadership Transition

Monday, July 6, 2026

SWIFT CURRENT, SK – After four years leading Great Plains College, president and CEO Brad Mahon has accepted a new role as Vice President, Community Development with Assiniboine College in Brandon, Manitoba. He will conclude his time with Great Plains College in August.

“It has been a privilege to lead Great Plains College and to work alongside such a talented team of staff, faculty, and board members,” said Brad Mahon, president and CEO. “The relationships we’ve built with students, communities, and partners across the region have shaped this chapter of my career in ways I’ll always be grateful for. I leave knowing the college is in capable hands and well-positioned for what’s ahead.”

During his tenure, Mahon prioritized collaboration and community engagement, strengthening partnerships with municipalities, industry, donors, and other key stakeholders across the region. His leadership helped advance the college’s strategic priorities and reinforced its role in meeting regional workforce and training needs, keeping students at the forefront of decision-making.

“Brad’s leadership over the past four years has helped strengthen Great Plains College’s position as a leader within the regional college system, and we are grateful for his many contributions as we wish him all the best in this next chapter,” said Great Plains College board chair Jeremy Roberts.

To support this transition, Keleah Ostrander has been appointed Interim President & CEO for a one-year term and will assume the role this summer. With over a decade of experience on the college’s senior leadership team, Ostrander brings extensive sector experience, deep institutional knowledge, and a strong commitment to student success.

“The Board is confident in Keleah’s ability to provide strong, steady leadership and ensure continuity for the college, our staff, and our partners,” said Roberts. “Her familiarity with our people, programs, and strategic priorities positions her well to guide the college forward.”

Great Plains College remains committed to strong partnerships and delivering education that meets the evolving needs of learners and industry. This fall, college staff look forward to welcoming students to its campuses in Biggar, Kindersley, Maple Creek, Swift Current, and Warman, with programming in Agriculture, Adult Basic Education, Business and Administration, English Language Training, Healthcare, Early Childhood Education, Trades, and Power Engineering.
