Build the confidence to take the next step in your career or education journey through the essential skills program. You'll work on improving your communication and math skills, while earning industry tickets to help you qualify for the job you want. Following this program, students may enter the workforce or continue their education in the Adult 10 & GED or Grade 12 programs.
Entrance Requirements
Maple Creek
This program runs October 1, 2024 - May 24, 2025.
Classes run Monday-Thursday, 5 hours/day.
Swift Current
This program runs January 8-April 25, 2024 for 3 hours/day Tuesday-Thursdays.
What You Will Learn
Do you want to get a job or enter a new field of work? We can help you develop the skills, abilities and attitudes necessary to make that happen. As an essential skills student, you will improve your ability to work with numbers, communicate, read and write. You will be given opportunities to gain the skills that make you ready for the workplace, including:
- Developing a workable resume and interview skills
- Earning industry tickets and certifications that match your work path
- Job shadowing and volunteer opportunities
- Mentorship, coaching and links to employment
Other Information
These are secondary programs and are not eligible for student loan consideration or Great Plains College scholarships.
