Course Description
These courses provide knowledge of safe and effective pesticide application and pest control as required under the Pest Control Products (Saskatchewan) Act. The course content covers areas such as Label Information, Personal Hazards, Protective Clothing and Equipment, Environmental Hazards, Safe Use and Handling, Emergency Procedures, and Federal and Provincial Legislation.
Certification Categories
Industrial Vegetation
This course is the first step toward obtaining a license to purchase pesticides and control weeds in industrial areas such as roadsides, power lines, rights-of-way, well sites, parking lots, roadbeds, and equipment yards, including designated noxious weeds on all lands.
Agricultural Applicator
This course meets the requirements of the Pest Control Products (Saskatchewan) Act and provides basic training in controlling weeds, insects, and diseases, including on-farm seed treatment, bird and rodent control, and weed management in farm dugouts and shelterbelts.
Landscape Applicator
This course teaches pest control for ornamental plants and turf on residential, commercial, and public lands, including the use of herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, and vertebrate-control products in nurseries. It meets the requirements of the Pest Control Products (Saskatchewan) Act and provides essential training for safe, effective pesticide application. Successful students may apply for a Commercial License through the Ministry of Agriculture.
On-Farm Grain Fumigation
This course provides essential training for safe and effective fumigation, focusing on the use of Aluminum Phosphide to control insects and ground squirrels in stored grain. It meets the requirements of the Pest Control Products (Saskatchewan) Act and covers key safety, environmental, and regulatory information.
Mosquito & Biting Fly Applicator
This two-day course focuses on the control of mosquito and other biting fly larvae or adults, including the ground application of insecticides.
