Course Description

Great Plains College offers the theory portion of Saskatchewan's Mandatory Entry-Level Training (MELT) program for Class 1A drivers through online, instructor-led training. 

The course is delivered by an approved SGI instructor/trainer examiner over 8 days (47 hours). Students follow the same curriculum standard as in-classroom theory training and have opportunities to ask questions and interact with other students. 

This course includes the theory portion only. The 74.5 hours of in-yard and in-truck practical training must be completed through a truck driver training provider of your choice.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age 
  • Saskatchewan resident
  • Hold a non-Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) Class 5 driver's license

*Individuals under the age of 18 who have achieved experienced Driver status on their Class 5 Driver's License may participate in the Class 1A MELT theory course.
