Course Description

This 30-hour theory course is designed to assist students in preparing for the Provincial Examination to obtain a provisional ticket related to oilfield boilers, dry steamers and drilling rig boilers. This course will cover the basic principles of design, operation and maintenance of high-pressure boilers such as those found in the oilfield.  The Provincial Exam is not included in this course which allows students to book their exam at a location and time suitable to each individual.

Click the provided link to access T-Sask’s exam calendar and exam booking system.  Search for Boiler Operator exam sittings.  The Special Oilfield Boiler Operator exam may also be requested on any dates you see on the calendar listed to take place in Swift Current.  You can do this by calling T-Sask at 1-866-530-8599.

Live, Instructor-led Online, Distance Education

Students will attend live, web-based classes which allows for live interaction with the instructor and other students.  Students will get to know the instructor and their fellow classmates just like a regular face-to-face course.

Classes will include lectures, videos, quizzes, assignments, and other real-time presentations that are designed to best prepare students to write the provincial exam at a date, time and location that is suitable to each individual.

Great Plains College will provide students with free access to the online platform in which to participate in live sessions and access course assignments, practice exams, chapter quizzes, etc.

Our instructor is dedicated to the success of our students!  Extra help, additional review sessions, and support to students provided outside of regular course hours are often made available to students and are scheduled at discretion and availability of the instructor.

  2. Each student will require their own computer and log-in information to complete the daily quizzes, assignments, mock exams, etc. (as these are provided online and are graded in real-time and must be completed individually).
  3. Each student will require their own computer and log-in information to access review and study materials when studying outside of course hours.
