What You Will Learn

The pre-professional year of study at a post-secondary level provides a solid foundation in university education, preparation for upper-year nursing classes and transferable credits to other health science degrees.

Students will be able to complete the 10 required pre-professional courses at Great Plains College, giving them the credits needed to apply to USask College of Nursing to complete years two, three, and four of their nursing degree at the USask distributed nursing site in Swift Current or other USask nursing sites. Admission to the College of Nursing is competitive and based on your pre-professional course average (60% of your admission score) and your Casper® test (40% of your admission score).

All students interested in pursuing nursing for years 2, 3 and 4 at the Swift Current Campus or other USask Nursing sites must apply for admission to the College of Nursing during the first year of study. Pre-professional courses must be completed by April 30, 2025 if you wish you start year 2 of nursing in September 2025.
