This course covers the related areas of tillage, seeding and fertilizing equipment. Emphasis is placed on systems common to the Western Canadian prairies. Skills are implemented to assist decision-making and problem-solving in common agricultural production situations. Course topics are studied in the classroom, the shop, and in the field if the season permits.
Weed biology, ecology and identification. Cultural, biological and chemical management practices discussed. Chemical make-up, mode of action and safe handling of herbicides included.
Deal with economic principles underlying production, markets, and the national economy. Agricultural examples used.
This course introduces the student to basic plant botany and the production of grain and oilseed crops in western Canada. The student studies plant physiology, the major plant parts and their role in plant growth and development. The students discover what the major growth factors are for crops on the prairies and how they can affect these crops. They combine this with specific best practices for the major grain and oilseed crops of western Canada.
You will have a second opportunity to acquire extended experience working with human services programs for at risk persons and groups. You will focus on the administration functions that youth care professionals carry out in the workplace. You will learn to develop your leadership, documentation, reporting and project management skills.
You will focus on the scope and characteristics of sexual violence in Canada. You will learn to identify indicators of sexual abuse, the impact on the victim and family and the recovery process. You will study the importance of self-awareness and self-care.
You will be introduced to the psychological and social disorders seen in youth at risk. You will learn how these disorders are manifested, screened, assessed, and treated.
