Course Description
Attention industry employers: Revisions to Sask. Occupational Health & Safety Regulations have resulted in a new requirement to Fit Test your employees who will or may be required to use SCBA or SABA in the workplace.
7-3(1)(iv) if a tight fit is essential to ensure the worker is not exposed to one or more airborne contaminants to an extent that may pose a risk of significant harm to the worker, has been fit‑tested by a competent person in an approved manner;
Note: Candidates for Fit Testing MUST be clean shaven and must not smoke within 30 minutes prior to the testing.
Topics covered:
- proper donning and doffing of the respirator
- performing seal checks
- care, use and maintenance of the respirator
- defining the differences between N-Series, R-Series, and P-Series respirators as well as half- and full-face respirators.
We test on SCOTT, 3M, MSA, North, Sperian, Draegar, and Survivair with adapters we have on hand. With ample notice, we can obtain any other brand of adapter you may need.
If you company uses any mask brand other than the following you will be required to bring your own mask for testing purposes:
Swift Current - SCOTT
Kindersley - SCOTT, North (Half Mask) or Survivair
Any person who is required to wear a tight-fitting face piece during the course of their normal day to day duties, or any personnel who is required to wear a tight-fitting face piece for emergency response activities should be fit tested to ensure an effective seal.
All Fit Tests are QUANTITATIVE and follow CSA Z94.4-2011 protocol.
Fit tests are scheduled by appointment on regular H2S class dates for individuals, but can be scheduled on a custom basis for larger groups.
